Managing cropping schedules and harvest quality in brassica crops is heavily dependent on the crop’s response to inputs under different growing conditions and stress factors.
Crop nutrition has traditionally focused on the timely supply of fertiliser minerals to prevent nutritional stress but the relatively simple addition of foliar supplements to support the 3 R’s of plant stress management – rooting, resilience and recovery – can also give growers more options to counter less controllable factors such as weather, pests and disease and crucially, help achieve more uniform growth rates.
The warmer weather has encouraged rapid growth in sugar beet crops and in many cases has allowed later emerging plants to catch up. But crops still suffering from irregular growth or starting to show signs of stress will still benefit from a nutrient boost to even up growth and help plants withstand further temperature stress. Ilex EnviroSciences will be using CEREALS 2017 to focus on the benefits of boosting root development and using advanced nutrition formulations to achieve the highest levels of nutrient-use-efficiency in arable crop production. (more…)
Despite some much-needed rainfall, some sugar beet crops are still showing signs of stress as they struggle to access the moisture and nutrients needed to maintain a healthy rate of growth. (more…)
Precision nutrition using PK MAXX+ has proven to be a valuable tool for influencing tuber numbers, size and uniformity but timing is key to getting maximum benefit from application. Potato specialist Andy Burton takes you through the points to remember. (more…)
